Massage Treatments

When you arrive for treatment we will discuss with you the reasons behind your visit, and from our assessments we will advise you on the most effective form of treatment.  Myself and Lucy are trained in various modalities and we seek to incorporate our knowledge and training to give you the best service.

Which appointment should I book?

To make our booking system simple, we have designed four different appointment slots.  An initial consultation, which is for anyone who is coming to us for the first time, this allows for a 15 minute assessment and an hour's treatment.  There are three other appointment times, 30 minutes which would be specific to one area, 60 minutes or 90 minutes.

We are specialists in sports and remedial massage therapy, detailed below is a short summary of the other types of treatments that are available and that we can incorporate within your appointment.

Initially you will be provided with a consultation, which establishes all the factors relating to the reason you are seeking treatment, and you will be asked questions in order to establish a more comprehensive picture of why you are injured or experiencing pain. Our aim is to help you recover as quickly as possible, reduce pain, and increase functionality.

Deep tissue and sports massage

Ideal if you are training for a specific event such as a marathon, or if you take part in any sporting activity regulary. The techniques used aim to improve your performance, reduce tension in overused muscles, improve flexibility in tight tissues which will improve your range of movment. Importantly, it gives you awareness of how your body adapts to the sport you participate in, enabling you to improve how you train to acheive better results.

Remedial soft tissue therapy

If you are injured, suffering with chronic pain, managing a long term condition such as arthritis, recovering from recent surgery or have a postural or occupational related issue then this treatment is ideal.  This is still a deep tissue technique, but we work with a more sensitive pain scale that you are happy with.  The benefits include reduction pain, release of tension and quicker recovery.

Medical Acupuncture

Medical acupuncture is used for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, it promotes the natural self-healing process by stimulating specific receptors in the muscles and soft tissues which produce natural pain killing hormones. This particular treatment can also alleivate chronic tension headaches and provide relief to chronic neck and back pain.

Kinesio Taping

This is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body's natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body's range of motion, as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.

Myofascial Release

Fascia is a connective tissue which is weblike and is an uninterrupted sheet of tissue that extends from the skull down to the soles of the feet. Fascia can shorten, solidify, and thicken in response to trauma, anything physically or emotionally injurious ot the body.  This is a gentle, slow but very effective treatment, it restores balance and promotion of good posture, elimination of general pain and discomfort, aids injury recovery and rehabilitation and promotes relaxation and a sense of well-being.

Hot Stone Therapy Massage

With the use of heated stones, this is a deep releasing treatment, reduces physical tension, improves circulation and aids in flushing of toxins through the lymphatic system.  Using hot stones relaxes the muscles and connective tissues, so reduces tension on the joints.  This effect also allows for deeper massage maniuplation of the soft tissues and eliminates any therapeutic discomfort that may occur from remedial massage alone.
